CATERINA VERDE is an artist and curator who works in a cross platform of media; video installation; drawing, photography, prints as well as 3d works. Verde was the curator of Hybrid/Performance Art at The Kitchen, New York City for three years and was the recipient of a two year artist residency in Paris from the American Center in Paris. Verde makes it part of her practice to work collaboratively with other artists and choreographers. She has exhibited her work at Rosella Junck in Berlin, Galerie Eof in Paris, Central Fine Art in New York, Journée Photographiques de Bienne, Switzerland, Galerie Pennings in the Netherlands, Threadwaxing Space, and The Kitchen, NYC among others. Her video work has been presented in Brazil and Japan as well as commissioned. Verde was co-founder of Antenna TV, a television show involved in the art community in the 90’s NY. More recently, Verde was the recipient of a video grant at the Outpost in Williamsburg, NY. She is the curator of Strange Positioning Systems a global performance project.
Her most recent solo exhibit was at Wm Turner Gallery in AtLanta, Georgia in February 09.
Verde also created the site for Matthew Rose’s project: “A Book About Death” which opened in NY at Emily Harvey Foundation as well produced a work and designed one of the posters for the show as well as the project. That project has since gone on to be presented at: the Otis School of Art & Design, Queens Museum of Art; acquired by MOMA; LACMA library; and will travel to Louisiana, Wales, Belgium and Brazil.
